Gaia is a Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Ecological Sciences and Engineering and Geomatics at the Lyles School of Civil Engineering. Originally from Rome, Italy, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Economics at John Cabot University, funded by the Italian Merit Scholarship. Her undergraduate research interests focused on circular economies, particularly in the repurposing of food waste for the production of textiles. In 2021, she obtained her master’s degree in Civil Engineering and Ecological Sciences and Engineering at Purdue University. Today, her research interests include sustainable and resilient urban development, GIS and remote sensing applications, and complex systems analysis.
Aside from her interdisciplinary studies, Gaia is passionate about music and animals, and enjoys playing the piano, sports, and spending time with friends.
